Pon Automotive strengthens dealer management with Enterprise MDM from Orchestra Networks
Major Netherlands-based importer of automobiles establishes MDM program for dealer/partner network management; next phases will include support for: HR, business operations and omnichannel commerce.
Paris/Utrecht, 3 March 2015. Orchestra Networks and Systemation are pleased to report that Pon Automotive has successfully implemented partner management as their first master data management domain.

The automotive market in the Netherlands is in a state of flux. There have been waves of divestitures, mergers, acquisitions and liquidations of Pon's automotive dealer partners. The need to keep current and maintain up-to-date and consistent dealer information, which is critical for channel management, contract management and performance measurement, was why Pon - was looking for a master data management solution.
After a very demanding selection process, EBX5, Orchestra Networks' MDM software, and Systemation, a leading software solutions provider, were selected to deliver the master data management program.
With EBX5 Pon has migrated to an environment that supports cross-linking of dealer and retail network master data to dozens of internal and external business applications. EBX5 has made it possible to establish and govern relationships between multiple master data domains and objects. Additionally, EBX5 ensures that changes in the data and in the relationships can be governed in real-time. That means that organizational changes in their dealer partners, can easily be implemented. This has a direct impact on the auto-buying public in the Netherlands. For example with EBX5, Pon has confidence that a potential customer, who is looking at the website of ŠKODA to contact the nearest dealer, will always retrieve the most up-to-date and accurate data.
Pon has found nearly immediate success with their EBX5 implementation. "We now have a universe of information instead of a Rolodex of dealers," says Ron Saraber, Enterprise Architect at Pon Automotive, "Tying our data domains together with relationships has made things even more consistent, manageable and understandable."
The business-user focused nature of EBX5 has simplified adoption, a critical success factor for any MDM program. For a traditional company like Pon everything that is new, takes time to get used to. But after a short training it was found that staff find their way very easily. Pon is aiming for widespread adoption in order to reap further benefits of the EBX5 implementation. There are plans to provide training to staff, even those on the shop floor, on how to use EBX5.
When asked if EBX5 has met Pon's expectations Klaas Pieter Roemeling, Director of Dealer Management responded: "Certainly. We achieved our goal to give our dealer information more depth and breadth. The gains in efficiency, effectiveness and quality are great. Previously, it took a week to calculate dealer bonuses. This is now done with a few mouse clicks. We are much more flexible and agile. Here's an example. Before EBX5 we were concerned about how Pon would comply with the requirement to update the Dutch national digital vehicle dossier. We need to submit detailed information on the equipment level of each car, it's a huge information supply operation. With EBX5, we anticipate compliance with this regulation will be quite simple."
Pon Automotive has laid a great foundation for data management with EBX5 and expansion is on the agenda. In their next phase, Pon will master dealership employees. Subsequent phases will focus on additional business operations and omnichannel commerce initiatives.
