EBX5 provides advanced data modeling capabilities that support both business and IT user requirements. As with all of the product's features, data modeling is available in the Web UI through an easy-to-use modeling tool. Based on a semantic modeling approach, EBX5 is able to mix relational and object-oriented concepts in order to define data models that make sense to business users. Semantic modeling allows you to avoid the technical limitations of relational schema such as join tables and to focus on the "real" description of your master data.
Semantic Modeling with an Intuitive Web ExperienceEBX5 relies on a unique semantic modeling approach which gives you the ability to model master data in a way that is business-understandable. This unique capability lets business users be involved in the modeling exercise from day one. EBX5 fully supports XML Schema, which facilitates reuse of industry standards or the reverse engineering of existing data models.
Complex Data Types, Relationships and HierarchiesEBX5 supports most common or complex data types and also allows the definition of reusable data types. This lets you define multi-occurrence attributes, composite keys and configure complex relationships such as many-to-many. In addition, EBX5 supports all types of hierarchies, including ragged, balanced and unbalanced.
Advanced Inheritance and Calculated ValuesEBX5 provides advanced inheritance capabilities. Through this, a field value can automatically inherit from parent objects or be locally overwritten. It is also possible to define a field as a calculated value.
Multi-language DictionaryThrough a data model, a detailed dictionary of metadata can be maintained. This dictionary which includes labels, descriptions and messages can be fully localized in any language. |
