MDM for Organisation & HR
An industrial group has built a central MDM of its organisational structures and employees and synchronize it with its Information system
Context
An industrial group has launched an MDM initiative in order to build a central point of management of its organisational structures and employees. Organisation elements such as markets, business units or geographical area are defined in different formats in existing systems. In addition, employees are managed in heterogeneous systems from enterprise directory to human resources application.
The main challenge of this project was to design a unified description of organisation and employee hierarchies and to synchronize this central MDM with existing applications.
Data Governance Objectives
- Design a hierarchical data model of organisations and employees
- Maintain data mapping between MDM and existing applications
- Enforce roles, rights and strict security rules for business users
- Manage Master Data changes with end-user workflows
- Synchronise reference data with directory and HR systems
Solution: EBX.Platform
After evaluating identity management solutions, the company understood its project needed more than just a directory-oriented solution. EBX.Platform was the only MDM software that allowed to model and manage complex organisation data and provide out-of- the-box Data Governance features:
- Model complex hierarchies of organisation structures and employees
- Manage cross-reference and mappings tables
- Role-based security for business users
- End-user workflows
- Standard integration of Master Data with existing systems
Benefits
- Cut master data maintenance cost by consolidating master data into a unified repository
- Avoid redundancies and errors by maintaining one unique federated repository updated by finance, HR and enterprise security teams
- Improved reporting by using unified organisation and employee master data
