Data Governance for Fixed Assets Management

Using Orchestra Networks Master Data Management Software, a worldwide real estate management company manages and tracks its global building master data life cycle

Context

An international group, specialised in office building rental has deployed a unified repository of real estate assets. This company has acquired several subsidiaries; each one uses its own real estate management system.

The main challenge of the project was to consolidate and then manage around 200,000 assets in a unique repository. Business users have to update and validate real estate data but also to be able to track and control complex life cycles of building, from construction to rental.

With more than 200000 assets worldwide, our master data were dispersed in multiple systems. EBX.Platform helped us establish Data Governance and Life Cycle Management

Data Governance Objectives

» Manage a unique and shared repository of real estate master data
» Control building status using approval workflows
» Enforce roles, rights and security rules for users
» Maintain current and future versions of master data

Solution: EBX.Platform

EBX.Platform was selected against vertical solutions such as CDI (Customer Data) or PIM (Product Data). EBX.Platform was the only Master Data Management software solution able to model real estate master data and to manage complex life cycles. Key features for this project were:

» Flexible data modelling (buildings, offices, services)
» Change management and approval workflows
» Role-based security
» Life cycle management (version control, compare & merge)

Benefits

» Cut master data maintenance cost by consolidating real estate master data into a unified repository
» Improve customer satisfaction by providing accurate information on office buildings
» Increase revenue by optimising free building space allocation
